so we moved on a Sunday- a very rainy sunday at that, with the help of many friends, including kids from our student ministry. this is our fourth move while in Hendersonville, and we promise to all we won't have another- not for a while at least. :) I'm not sure if you ever put down deep permanent roots while in ministry, but God has planted us in this sweet little house as firmly as He can for now... so no more moving in the near future... yay!!!
so yes, moved on Sunday... and began my new job at the counseling ministry at our church at 8am on Monday. after a month of work there I can say that i am getting the hang of things as a receptionist extraordinaire, and am learning about the counsling world in ways that would have not been possible otherwise. i am really gratefully fo that, and work with some really incredible people. it has most def been a blessing all around. even so i do miss it at student ministry. i haven't yet adjusted to not being in the middle of the hustle and bustle of everything there. and as no one has come to fill my place, its harder to completely shut that door and take my place there as a volunteer. as i have said before, i think that this is the first in a long time that i have been obedient in doing something that left a empty spot where i was needed. i know it is the right decision on many different levels... even so its hard to adjust to. aside from a brief few months when we first married, i have never been a volunteer in a ministry. i have always been in charge of some area. so i know this will be good for me. :) enough of that...
next, i began work on monday, while jeff went to seminary classes, and my mother-in-law Linda came to help unpack and do yard work on Tuesday evening. can i just say, she is a hard working woman! because of her we have a fully functioning kitchen and pantry, and a semi set up dining and living room. as well as a weeded font flower bed and tons of landscaping etc... ideas for the future. Thanks Linda!!! we truly could not have done all of that without your help.
which brings me to the next event, we worked full steam on the house in between our work schedules, in order to get it ready for the rest of the henrys to come over on Friday night. Christina ran the Music City Half Marathon on Saturday morning, and big brother jeff was determined to make sure he helped her have the full experience. on friday our little house had its first party- the pre marathon carb-bonanza. originally it was intended for the family plus Christina's friends etc... by friday it had scaled down to just family- which ended up being really fun and relaxed.
we then got up incredibly early and drove the runners to centennial park in nashville. we then positioned ourselves at a few places to cheer them on. i was excited that my sometimes sketchy sense of direction actualy cane in handy that day, maneuvering us around the road closures and traffic. they did an awesome job and survived the 13.1 miles beautifully. in true CCH tradition, many pics were taken throughout the events.

after lunch and a short nap, Linda and i completed the visit with our traditional shopping trip. we raided TJMaxx, HomeGoods, Target, and Petco. i'd have to say that's one our fav things to do together.. :) the boys stayed home and put up light fixtures. :) on Sunday Harroll and Linda got to experience our church for the first time, which was definitely very special to us.
in the end it was a fun weekend. in retrospect it was a lot to cram in, one week after moving... but jeff and i have accepted the fact that we're just crazy like that... and we kind of love it that way. :)
(I was going to include this to show the funny shirt Christina wore in the marathon, and then thought how true the saying was for us as well... :) we all survived and lived to tell the tale :)
