daniel day

last saturday we got to hang out with my "little" brother, Daniel. He's taller than me and now 16- so little isn't exactly an accurate description.

We decided to have a plethora of fun things planned and to just do whatever we had time for. First we went to the Pfunky Griddle in Berry Hill area of Nashville. It was so fun! All you can eat pancake batter in white and whole wheat, any topping you choose and a spatula for each person. Then you cook your pancake in the middle of your table. It as like poor man's Melting Pot, with a breakfast spin. We all agreed it was super fun, and the food had to be good, we cooked it!

Jeff's pancake mickey mouse, and Daniel's pancake Jeff
We then visited our sis, Melanie at the Bluegrass and Biscuits craft show where she sold her adorable knitted goods. If anyone is interested in completely cute pumpkin baby hats, she's the one to talk to!
Next stop- farmer's market. The mass of veggies was a little overwhelming, but we did choose a few pumpkins for ourselves... and a few sodas from the international market (they were a little strange) :)
Then back to good ole h'ville, where the boys took a very manly nap during a football game. When they decided to awaken from their beauty sleep, the pumpkin carving commenced. Jeff is still fine tuning his- so pics are son to come. BTW- anyone know how keep them from getting moldy and gross?
Finally we headed back to Nahsvegas to drop Daniel off at a party. We decided it was important to give him a little teen party advice first (so we discussed dance moves, the importance of minty fresh breath and avoiding awkward slow dances) with him over a plate of delectable jim nachos from the new "Jim Nacho" across from Lipscomb.
All in all, a good day. Its strange to think that in two years he'll be headed for college. I'm so proud of him and the awesome man he's growing into... look for daniel day the sequel coming soon... :)
